About Umesh Amin

Umesh is currently serving as the Senior Vice President, Global Head of IP in UiPath. He is passionate about creating share-owner value by launching or transforming organizations, leading new or restructured operations, and leveraging organizational core strengths to expand business development, product development, building and invigorating multi-location teams, creating and negotiating complex M&A transactions, and conducting international business in different cultures.

Umesh was Managing Director of Prium Inc, an executive consulting firm, supporting start-up and small companies on fund raising, strategy, sales, marketing, and business development matters. Current key clients include: Zoic Capital, Vettd, and Sagacious Research (Sagacious IP).

Umesh was Executive Vice President Client Service for Tekcapital, lead business development, operations, and sales of academic innovation analytics services. Helped transition the company from an early stage start-up to public listed entity.

Umesh spent four years with Intellectual Ventures (IV), an invention capitalist entity with over $5B under management. IV recruited him to create and run a wireless/communications business unit. Umesh built a world class licensing team to focus on the $1T global wireless industry and launched multiple licensing programs that resulted in over $600M in licensing revenue.

Prior to IV, Umesh was President & COO of Telsima Inc. In that role, Umesh was responsible for leading all aspects of the Indo – US organization. He transformed the existing wireless-messaging business to a leading provider of VoIP-systems through M&A.

Before joining Telsima, Umesh was a Senior Director of the New Technologies and Services Planning at AT&T Wireless Services (AWS). During his tenure at AWS, dating back to AT&T Bell Labs/McCaw Cellular, he worked on all aspects of the wireless industry eco-system; most notably built the company patent portfolio from less than ten assets to over 400 assets and launched monetization effort. Umesh has been awarded over 30 patents.

Umesh was Chairman and Chairman Emeritus of the board of directors of the Universal Wireless Communications Consortium (UWCC), in 2000 and 2001, respectively. He collaboratively worked with OEMs, MNOs, and other industry organizations in support of the digital wireless technologies TDMA, WIN, GSM, GPRS, and EDGE.

Umesh has made over 70 presentations at telecommunication conferences throughout the world, including ITU (International Telecommunications Union) events in Brazil, Singapore, and South Africa as well as CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association), COMDEX, and GSM World Congress annual events.

Umesh served as a member of The School of Business & Economics Advisory Board at the Central Washington University from 1999 – 2003. He was an active member of IEEE for 18 years. He was also on the editorial board of the IEEE Personal Communications Services Magazine, Vice Chair of Networks for Personal Communications Services Conference, Publicity Chair for ICC 95, and was the wireless industry representative to Globecom 2003 and Globecom 2000 Executive Committee.

Umesh holds an undergraduate and graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the City College of New York. He has also completed business and management courses including a mini-MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
